FRANCK CARDUCCI |
My brief comments (for what it's worth): FRANCK CARDUCCI - [If ever there was a band tailor-made for the Lorelei Night of the Prog festival, it is the remarkable French band Franck Carducci, so-named after their founder member / band leader. I had booked to see Italian prog rockers Barock Project at a gig in London a couple of years ago, who withdrew at the eleventh hour. Disappointed, I had considered not attending however I was glad I changed my mind, else I would not have had the opportunity of seeing this, their replacement band, whom I had never heard of before. Franck Carducci blew the headline act off the stage that night so I was consequently thrilled that they had been invited to play in Germany, as they undoubtedly come to the fore as a live band. An obvious parallel can be drawn with Peter Gabriel-era Genesis yet they have forged their own musical style. They are real crowd pleasers; colourful, flamboyant, entertaining and creative, in true prog tradition. Their setlist for the Lorelei event included Achilles, Alice's Eerie Dream, The Quind / Journey Through the Mind / A Brief Tale of Time / The Last Oddity, On The Road To Nowhere (a new song), Artificial Paradises (Closing section) and Eclipse (Pink Floyd cover). Band lne-up: Christophe Obadia : Electric Guitar, Didgeridoo, Bass-Pedal; Olivier Castan : Keyboards; Mary Reynaud : Theremin, Rainstick, Tambourine, Vocals; Nino Reina : Drums, Backing Vocals; Steve Marsala : Electric + Acoustic Guitars, Backing Vocals; Franck Carducci : Bass, 12 String Guitar, Vocals] |
