The festival concluded Sunday with ex-Supertramp lead vocalist Roger Hodgson's largely acoustic performance on keyboards and guitar, accompanied by Canadian multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Aaron MacDonald, playing a thoroughly enjoyable set of Supertramp and solo pop-rock pieces which the crowd loved. "It's raining again" rang out as the heavens opened up and drenched the audience. Roger, who still has a great voice, handles his audience with grace, charm, humour and respect and is loved in Germany - this is obvious from his extensive tour schedule. A thoroughly decent bloke indeed, his lyrics are at times introspective and spiritual, "The Logical Song" a case in point. I had seen Supertramp at Hyde Park without him and realised how sorely they missed him. The main songwriter in Supertramp, it was clear how many of their hits had been penned by him. i was amazed at how good he was. |
