My brief comments (for what it's worth) - SATURDAY: PURE REASON REVOLUTION - [Bloody-well didn't show up! A huge fan upon acquiring their first album, I have seen them twice live in the UK in small, pokey venues with terrible sound and thought then that they couldn't reproduce the same studio sound live. So I was looking forward to seeing them play the Lorelei. Though most bands use midi and the like to trigger pre-recorded sounds, I think they tend to overdo this aspect unfortunately. Their recently released second album is a move away from prog. ] PENDRAGON - [What cannot be said about the cheeky, impish, irrepressible yet intensely likable Nick Barrett that hasn't already been said? The man is an entertainer and a great guitarist and plays with such passion - yes, it's as prog as you can get - pretentious and pompous some might argue but bloody brilliant I would add! I have been a huge fan of Pendragon for some time now. The addition of new drummer Scott Higham has enhanced the rhythm section significantly. Line-up: Nick Barrett, (Guitar/Vocals); Clive Nolan, (Keyboards); Peter Gee, (Bass) and Scott Higham, (Drums). I caught Nick at Frankfurt (Hahn) airport Sunday evening, on the flight back to Stansted, he seemed to warm to what was probably his first encounter of a South African prog fan.] STEVE HACKETT & BAND - [next pages] MARILLION'S SCRIPT FOR A JESTER'S TEARSHOW by Mick Pointer & Friends - [next pages] |
