My brief comments (for what it's worth): SANGUINE HUM - [It's never easy to open a festival and from past experience at Lorelei, the first bands up have generally been a disappointment however Sanguine Hum certainly broke the mould in that respect. Nicely textured music, well structured songs which project a distinctly modern sound, excellent vocals. Current lne-up: Matt Baber: Keyboards, Joff Winks: Guitar and Vocals, Brad Waissman: Bass and Andrew Booker: Drums] * * * MAYBESHEWILL- [I had not heard of this band before. Formed in 2005, the instrumental four-piece Maybeshewill From Leicester produce a sound of frenetic high energy but not without an appealing measure of complexity. They remind me a bit of Pure Reason Revolution. Current line-up: James Collins (Drums), Matthew Daly (Keyboards), John Helps (Guitar), Robin Southby (Guitar) and Jamie Ward (Bass)] * * * SOUND OF CONTACT- [In some respects it might be considered an advantage following in the footsteps of a father as famous as Phil Collins in terms of launching one's musical career, yet it might also prove a double-edged sword if its not up to standard. The band have only released one album to date, entitled "Dimensionaut". The sound fits the progressive mould, though a number of songs do verge towards the "feel good" pop idiom, so I guess they are still trying to establish an identity. Due to sound issues or whatever, the set seemed to be over before it had begun.
